Abstract

The total antioxidant effect of extracts from Corallodiscus kingianus and Aeschynanthus mengxingensis was assayed by three methods, namely,DPPH radical scavenging,ABTS radical scavenging and ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) assay. In four extracts from two plants, the methanol extract from C.kingianus showed a higher active of DPPH radical scavenging activity with IC50 value of 4.92 μg/mL than that of positive control BHT with IC50 value of 18.79 μg/mL.The methanol extract from C.kingianus showed a less active of ABTS radical scavenging activity with IC50 value of 11.10 μg/mL than that of BHT with IC50 value of 6.04 μg/mL.The methanol extract from C.kingianus exhibited higher active of ferric reducing antioxidant powers with FRAP value of (2403.77±38.05) μmol TE/g than that of BHT with FRAP value of (1748.49±3.46) μmol TE/g.The methanol extract from C.kingianus showed the highest antioxidant activity among the four extracts of C.kingianus and A.mengxingensis.
