Abstract
In the mono-ethnic country, as ethnic boundaries consistent with the national boundaries, ethnic identity and national identity conflict does not exist, while in multi-ethnic country, the relationship between the two is quite sensitive. When the interests of the ethnicity and nation conflict, the interests of the ethnicity can not be gratified due to the national interests, Minorities' national identity will be minimized or even disappear, which are harmful to the unity, stability and development of multi-ethnic country .Therefore, for the multi-ethnic country, realising the change from ethnic identity to the national identity is of great significance. This paper analyses the current unfavourable factors contributing to our national identity, and explores construction of the Chinese national identity in new ways on the basis of distinguishing between ethnic identity and national identity.
