Abstract

The wool fabrics dyed with three common kinds of weak acid dyes were treated with transglutaminase.By measuring the absorbances of washing liquor of biological detergent and non-biological detergent at the λ_(max) of three dyes and the tensile strength of the dyed wool treated with transglutaminase, the influence of transglutaminase on the dyed wool fabrics resistance to detergent damage was analyzed. It was shown that the treatment with transglutaminase prior to washing with biological detergent and non-biological detergent were found to achieve reductions in the amount of dyed released from dyed wool fabrics and improvement in the resistance to detergent damage.Transglutaminase treatment was effective to maintain colour of dyed wool fabrics after washing biological and non-biological washing. The strength of the dyed wool fabrics increased after the treatment with transglutaminase.
