Abstract

Objective: To explore the effects of cognitive behavioral therapy( CBT) on the intervention of internet addiction( IA) behavior of medical students. Methods: Fifty-eight medical students with IA were divided into the observation group and control group( 30 cases each group). The routine persuasion, education and management and cognitive and behavioral intervention under CBT framework two times a week, each time 1. 0 to 1. 5 hours for 10 weeks were implemented in the control group and observation group, respectively. The mental health status in two groups were evaluated using SCL-90 symptom checklist before and after intervention. Results: The intervention effectiveness in observation group( 82. 14%) was significantly higher than that in control group( 13. 33%)( P 0. 01),the differences of the factorial scores in two groups before the intervention were not statistically significant( P 0. 05). Compared with the control group and before intervention, the scores of psychology, compulsivity, psychosis and interpersonal relationship in observation group were obviously improved after CBT( P 0. 01). Compared with before intervention, the scores of psychology, compulsivity, psychosis, interpersonal relationship, dumps, anxiety and hostility in control group were were obviously improved after intervention( P 0. 05 to P 0. 01),the differences of somatization, terror, bigotry and psychosis scores in the control group were not statistically significant( P 0. 05). Conclusions: The CBT play a positive role on stopping IA and promoting the mental health of medical students.
