Abstract
It studies the process of sediment and discharge of different size floods of the secondary elevated section of the lower Yellow River after generalization treatment by combining with physical model tests and under the conditions of invariant flood and sediment volumes.The outcomes show that a) along with the increase of peak discharge,the water flow into the floodplain also increases,the scope of flooding and deposition thickness are increasing gradually,but there is no big changes for basic flow path of bankfull floods;b) the flow exchange modes of bankfull floods includes the exchange mode of floodplain deposition and channel scouring completed at triangular floodplain and exchange mode of back to the main channel after sedimentation through strip-shape floodplain of longer distance.
