Abstract

Objective To observe the therapeutic value of transcatheter arterial embolization of arterial upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Methods Clinical data of 58 patients with upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage were analyzed retrospectively. The patients underwent superselective angiography, then the target vessels were embolized with different embolic agents according to position and causes of bleeding. All patients were followed-up 1—3 months, and the efficiency of treatment was evaluated. Results Among 58 cases, abnormalities including extravasation of contrast media, pseudoaneurysm, vascular malformation, etc were observed in 50 cases. The immediate hemostatic rate was 94.00%(47/50),the rehemostatic rate was 4.26%(2/47).No serious complications occurred.Postoperative follow-up ranged 1 to 3 months. Conclusion Transcatheter arterial embolization is safe and effective, having important clinical value for the treatment of arterial upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage.
