Abstract

The Chinese rhetorical system constructed merely by linguistic components has been the mainstream for long. In view of this situation, the author points out that non-linguistic factors can form not only general figurative languages but also figures of speech. Thus, non-linguistic elements can reasonably become important contents of the Chinese rhetorical system. Meanwhile, the author outlines the framework of the Chinese rhetorical system including both linguistic and non-linguistic factors.
