Abstract

In Northern Song Dynasty,Wang Zhi's works Si Liu Hua is the first Wen Hua which takes parallel prose as its special object in Chinese prose criticism.The book appeared as the form of essay.It not only criticized Si Liu Wen of Song Dynasty represented by Biao and Qi,but also discussed the origins and evolution of parallel prose as well as the creative experience.As a special works about critical theory,the works inherited the tradition that the former critical theory of parallel prose paid attention to the rhetorical ways,and advocated the practicability of antitheses and allusions.It has pioneering role in the critical theory history of Chinese parallel prose.And it raised the curtain for the later Wen Hua of parallel prose.So it is worth attention and further studying in literary theory.
