Locust species and their vertical distribution in Beijing area.

Abstract
The investigation on locust species and their distribution in plain and mountain area of Beijing has been conducted. Through the preliminary investigation from 2003 to 2004, 49 locust species belonging to 8 families and 33 genera were collected, because of the differences in vegetation, ecological environment and altitude, the vertical distribution of locust species in Beijing is distinct. Of the 44 locust species, 10 species are dominant populations and which are seriously damageing to agriculture and forestry.
