Relationship between the matrix metalloproteinase-9 in syncytiotrophoblast and PIH

Abstract
Objective:To study the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 in syncytiotrophoblast of patients with pregnancy-induced hypertension syndrome(PIH).Methods:The placenta samples were cotecllected from 42 patients with PIH and 25 normal pregnant woman. Immunohistochemical analysis was employed to demonstrate the positive expression of the MMP-9 in syncytiotrophoblast of these samples.Results:The positive expression of the MMP-9 in placenta from normal pregnancy group was 72% and it was significantly highter than that in PIH(40.5%,P0.05).Moreover, the MMP-9 positive expression had a reduced trend as the PIH advanced.Conclusion:The expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 is decreased in placenta syncytiotrophoblast in PIH group.
