Abstract
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of heat-phlegm removing and lung ventilating in the treatment of senile patients with community-acquired pneumonia. Methods 100 senile patients with community-acquired pneumonia( syndrome of phlegm-heat obstructing lung in TCM) were randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group, each including 50 cases. All patients received anti-infection,antitussive and expectorant managements, and the treatment group was additionally given Qingjin Huatan decoction compound for 10 days. The clinical efficacy and improvement of TCM symptoms were observed, and the normal rate of total leukocyte count were determined at the 3rd,5th and 9th days after the treatment. Results The clinical efficacy and improvement of TCM symptoms in the treatment group were superior to those in the control group respectively( P 0. 05). The recovery of leukocyte count to the normal level in the treatment group was quicker than that in the control group( P 0. 05).Conclusion The clinical efficacy of adopting methods of heat-phlegm removing and lung ventilating with Qingjin Huatan decoction compound is satisfactory in the treatment of senile patients with community-acquired pneumonia.
