Application of Interventional Therapy for Intractable Postpartum Hemorrhage

Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of transcatheter arterial embolization on intractable postpartum hemorrhage.Methods Uterine arterial embolization(UAE) or internal iliac artery embolization(IIAE) was performed with gelfoam in 11 patients after internal iliac arterial catheterization by Sedinger technology was confirmed by digital subtraction angiography(DSA).Results Effective hemostasis was obtained in all patients,no recrudescence occurred,and the functions of uterus and ovary were preserved.Conclusion TEA is an effective method for treating postpartum massive hemorrhage,it can stanch instantly with minor trauma,and have few complications,not only patients' life but also their uterine are saved.
