Abstract
Since the beginning of reform and opening up, industrial structure in the four major areas in China has moved toward roughly the same tendency, but labor productivity and contribution of various industries to economic growth in the eastern region is markedly superior to those in the central, western and northeastern areas. At present, ranking of industries in the four areas have transformed from secondary industry, primary industry and tertiary industry to secondary industry, tertiary industry and primary industry; we should adapt the development of primary industry to that of agricultural product processing industry, so as to attain the best efficiency of regional economic growth. Because the contribution of secondary and tertiary industries in the areas is directly related to labor productivity, we should pay attention to fostering labor productivity in regional industrial restructuring.
