Abstract

Objective To analyze the relationship betwen high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP) and B-type natriuretic peptide(BNP) and coronary heart disease(CHD) in the elderly. Methods Plasma levels of hs-CRP and BNP were detected on admission in 122 elderly CHD patients diagnosed by cardioangiography and 26 elderly persons without CHD.The CHD patinets were subdivided into groups of acute myocardial infarction(AMI,32 cases),unstable angina pectoris(UAP,60 cases) and stable angina pectoris(SAP,30 cases). On the basis of the number of lesion vessels,CHD patinets were subdivided into groups of three-vessel lesion(TVL),two-vessel lesion(DVL) and single-vessel lesion(SVL).Results The serum levels of hs-CRP and BNP were significantly higher in CHD patients than those without CHD(P0.01),which was increased in an order of AMIUAPSAP and in an order of TVLDVLSVL(P0.01).Conclusion Serum levels of hs-CRP and BNP have a predictive value in diagnosing and evaluating CHD in the elderly.
