Abstract

Objective To probe into the relationship between helicobacter pylori (Hp) reinfection and old people peptic ulcer recurrence. Methods Hp in gastric antral mucosal tissue of 78 old people peptic ulcer patients was detected by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and urease methods after one year of Hp eradication, Hp reinfection and ulcer recurrence were also observed. Results The rate of Hp infection in old patient group was higher than that in young group and the rate of Hp eradication in young group was higher than that in old ones. Conclusions There was close relationship between helicobacter pylori and old people peptic ulcer. It was important in reducing ulcer recurrence that Hp was eradicated from ulcer patients.
