Abstract

To evaluate protective effects of the recombinant signal protein(14-3-3 rSj14-3-3) DNA of Schistosoma japonicum(Chinese strain) and to observe the cooperative effect of rSj14-3-3 and rSjGST DNA as candidate for vaccine against Schistosoma japonicum, the Sj14-3-3 and SjGST recombinant plasmids were prepared by alkali burst method. These DNA were immunized into BALB/c mice and followed by challenging infection. After 6 weeks of challenging infection, the immunized mice were killed, and the worm and egg reduction rates were calculated It was found that the worm reduction rate in Sj14-3-3 DNA immunized group was 34.2%,and that in Sj14-3-3 DNA+SjGST DNA group was 32.4%;the egg reduction rates were 50.74% and 55.23% respectively. It concludes that recombinant rSj14-3-3 DNA has certain potentials to induce the anti-schistosomal effect in mice, and might be used as the candidate of vaccine, but there is no any cooperative effect with rSjGST.
