Levofloxacin in place of clarithromycin in standard triple therapy for the treatment of Hp:A study of 93 cases

Objective To investigate the effect of levofloxacin in place of clarithromycin in standard triple therapy(omeprazole,amoxicillin and clarithromycin) for the treatment of Helicobacter pylori(Hp).Methods All of 182 patients were sampled from Hospital,whose Hp registered positive after gastroscopy and urease test.They were randomly divided into two groups: treatment group with 93 patients and the control group with 89 cases.Omeprazole,amoxicillin and levofloxacin were combined in treatment group,whereas omeprazole,amoxicillin and clarithromycin were used in control group.Results The eradication rates of Hp in the treatment group and control group were respectively 90.3% and 74.2%,there were statistically significant differences(P 0.05).Conclusion The application of levofloxacin in place of clarithromycin in standard triple therapy(omeprazole,amoxicillin and clarithromycin) for the treatment of Hp demonstrated better eradication rate,and therefore it was favorably advisable in clinical practice.
