Sixteen cases of re-operation after tension-free hernia repair

Objective To investigate the causes of hernia recurrence or infection and prevention strategies of hernia recurrence or infection after tension-free hernia repair. Methods Cause of hernia recurrence or mesh infection of 16 cases of re -operation after tension -free hernia repair was analysed in ours hospital in March 2002 to October 2011. Results Cause of tension-free hernioplasty recurrence after primary operation 8 cases reconstruction of internal ring was too large, 5 cases patch was too small. Patch fixed line as absorption braided line and line node thick may be one cause of 3 cases mesh infection. Conclusion In order to avoid the hernia recurrence or mesh infection, the doctor should fully understand the principle of tension free hernia repair operation, improve the technical level, adopt a variety of measures to prevent patch from postoperative infection.
