Abstract

High molecular weight glutenin subunit (HMW GS) composition of 121 spring wheat varieties including 82 landraces, 11 introduced varieties and 28 modern varieties in Gansu were determined by sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS PAGE). The results revealed: (1) Glu A1 encoded three subunits of 1,2 * and null, Glu B1 encoded seven subunits of 7+8, 7+9, 17+18, 22, 7, 8,14+15, Glu D1 encoded eight subunits of 2+12, 2+11, 5+10, 2+10, 10, 4+11, 3+12, N. The subunit with the highest frequency is null (81 0%)、7+8(86 0%)、2+12(60 0%)in Glu A1、Glu B1 and Glu D1 respectively; (2) Some good quality subunits existed in studied varieties, such as Ganchun 20、Gaotaizimaizi etc;(4) Compared on HMW GS composition of three source spring wheat varieties, modern varieties had high frequencies of quality subunits Composition 1,7+8,5+10 and 1, 17+18,5+10.
