Abstract

Objective:To determine the Clinical significance of microvessel density and nm23,VEGF protein expression in gastric carcinoma.Methodes:nm23,VEGF protein expression and MVD in 98 cases of human gastric carcinoma were examined immunohistochemically by using anti-nm23,anti-Ⅷ factor monoclonal antibody and anti-VEGF,antibody,respectively.The relationships between the results and clinicopathological features were studied.Results:nm23 positively correlated with histologic types, depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis and prognosis, but their relation to the age and gender was not significant.Positive staining rate of VEGF in human gastric carcinoma was 45.9%.MVD was significantly higher in VEGF-positive gastric carcinoma than in VEGF-negative gastric carcinoma.MVD and VEGF postively correlated with depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis, but their relation to the histologic types of gastric carcinoma and age and gender was not significant.Patients with VEGF-positive gastric carcinoma had a significantly poorer prognosis than those with VEGF-negative ones(P0.05).Conclusion:Detection of MVD and nm23.VEGF protein expression may be useful in assessing the development, judging prognosis and selecting clinical therapy.
