Abstract

During the North Song dynasty,Di Qing invaded and defeated Nong Zhigao in the south.After Di Qing's death,sacrificial temples in honor of him were built,especially in the Ming and Qing dynasties.This was done by officials to strengthen their control of the local society in Guangxi.Through the building of the temple,they tried to instill loyalty to the people,which was an important idea in state ideology.Although the Pinghua people from southern Guangxi say their ancestors were from Qingzhou,Shandong Province who came to the south with Di Qing to conquer the southern barbarians,hence their worship for Di Qing,but the Zhuang society has its own evaluation system.So the effect of Di Qing temples stays at the level of government officials,and cannot penetrate into the hearts of the public.
