Abstract
ArcGIS Engine is one of the two new prominent products in ArcGIS 9.As an object-oriented embedded type of GIS,ArcGIS Engine can be used in an organization to establish application and provide for the user the specially targeted GIS function.It contains a custom-made development package which makes the GIS application development completely independent from the ArcGIS desktop platform;facilitate the development of geographic information,and also save the cost of development greatly.This paper discusses the principle and method of secondary development of geographic information using ArcGIS Engine taking campus geographic information system of a certain university as an example.
