Zheng Gu and His Poetry

Zheng Gu was an important poet of the late Tang Dynasty. His poems can be divided into two types: those that describe the hardships of his official career and the disorder of the times, and those that describe how he made friends with the Buddhist monks and wrote poems while drinking. Plain and fresh in style, his poetry had an influence that lasted until the beginning of the Song Dynasty.
