Abstract
Objective:To study possible association between plasma lipoprotein(a) (Lp[a]) level and severity of coronary artery disease in different gender.Method:Four groups were classified according to gender and the numbers and extents of coronary artery with stenosis. Coronary stenosis score were evaluated respectively. The difference of Lp(a) among the four groups in male and female were analyze. The possible correlation between plasma Lp(a) level and coronary stenosis score was studied. Result:There was significant difference of Lp(a) among the four groups in both female and male (P0.01). The difference only existed between multiple-vessel group and 0-vessel group. Plasma Lp(a) concentration was elevated in postmenopause female, compared with that in premenopause female. Conclusion:A positive correlation between plasma Lp(a) level and severity of coronary atherosclerosis exists in both male and female. Plasma Lp(a) concentration is hormonally regulated.
