Abstract
Some people of later ages often queried Kong Rong's identity as one of the Seven Masters of Jian An for his not having taken part in the activities of Ye City, his not having been mentioned by Chen Shou, who was a famous historian or his not having been approved by the public opinion earlier than Cao Pi's On Classic ·On Writings (Dian Lun·Lun Wen). In fact, these people made the mistakes of taking a part for the whole, misreading the history, and denying the latter with the former. Some of them tried to deny Kong Rong's identity as one of the Seven Masters of Jian An politically because they overemphasized the contradiction between Kong Rong and Cao Cao.In reality,Kong Rong had shared weal and woe with Cao Cao for a time.Others tried to deny Kong Rong's identity as one of the Seven Masters of Jian An with the individual differences of his writings from those of the other six masters. But the fact is that Kong Rong's works also have the general features of Jian An literature-vigor and grace.
