Abstract

Objective To investigate the value of MRI in diagnosis of hepatic focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH).Methods A retrospective analysis was made on the precontrast and dynamic contrast enhanced MRI findings of 19 cases with proved FNH by pathology and biopsy. Results MR images of 15 lesions always showed appearance with slightly low or low on T1WI and slightly high or high on T2WI.All lesions had apparent enhancement in the arterial phase and showed appearance with isointense or slightly high in the portal venous phase and delayed phase.Central scar was found in 13 FNH lesions on precontrast images and in 17 FNH lesions on dynamic contrast enhanced images, and demonstrated late enhancement. Conclusions The precontrast and dynamic contrast enhanced MRI scanning has great value in diagnosis of FNH.
