Abstract

This paper review the research progress in recent years on the impact of mariculture on the coastal environment and the corresponding measures taken. The conclusion that intensive management is the key to maintaining sustainable development of mariculture is reached. The main environmental impact of mariculture includes pollutant discharge, eutrophication, natural resources destruction, genetic pollution of natural stocks and habitat destruction. With the development of research, many different measures have been proposed. The solution is not to limit the mariculture, but to manage those factors that have the potential to cause environmental damage.
