Abstract

The key technologies to ensure the safety of the tunnel construction is to detect and forecast geological conditions of the area in front of tunnel working face.Ground Penetrating Radar(GPR) is a kind of high-frequency electromagnetic pulse technology, which is widely used in geological exploration.According to the superposition of the radar speed and travel time equation in combination with empirical relationship between water content and dielectric parameters,it can predict groundwater development situation in front of the working face effectively. In this article, combined with practical tunnel of Jiangbian Hydropower Station, the GPR technology was adopted to predict the area of a water-rich tunnel.Practice shows that GPR can detect water effectively.
