Abstract

4-Nitrobenzyl alcohol(3.83 g) was reduced by hydrazine hydrate(2.94 g) for 3.5 h at 80~85 ℃ in the presence of Pd/C catalyst(0.60 g).The crude product was recrystallized from ethanol and water to give 2.788 g 4-aminobenzyl alcohol(90.67% yield). The average yield of three decuple enlargement experiments was 88.56%.
