Disscussion about the Significance of Local Landscape on the Landscape Design of Modern Highway Landscape Analyses of Hengyan Express Highway

This paper discussed vernacular landscape along the highway, and the meanings of vernacular landscapes and their implication to the design of modern highway landscape. In this paper writer advanced that fully protecting and making use of vernacular landscape are important means of designing the modern highway landscape and fully ensure the new design idea of safety, comfort, environmental protect and harmony. The study of vernacular landscape is valuable to moder landscape architects in that it provide insights to the experience of the local people, it is a transition for the designer's attitudes from the self-centered design to the users oriented design which is harmonious. Let landscape architecture to develop from the unconsciousness design and designer's egotism to an conscious approach in design for the users.
