Abstract

Prodigiosin is a secondary metabolite with a methoxypyrrole ring produced by some Serratia sp.,actinomycetes and a few other bacteria.Prodigiosin has several biological activities such as immunosuppressive activity,antibacterial,antimycotic and antimalarial activities,etc.Recently,lots of researches reveal that prodigiosin has strong anticancer and immunosuppressive activities,and research on prodigiosin draws increasing attention.A description on the structure,bioactivity,production status and development trend of prodigiosin is introduced in this paper.
