Studies on Leaching Raffinose From Cottonseed Meal With the Solvent of Ethanol-water

Abstract
Raffinose is soluble in water,acetone,ethanol-water solution and other polar soutions.Protein of cottonseed meal is also dissolved.Therefore,ethanol-water solution was chosen as a solvent to leach raffinose of cottonseed meal.The leaching rate of raffinose were investigated under different ethanol concentrations in ethanol-water solution,leaching temperature,extraction time and cottonseed-meal/ sovent ratio.The results showed that lower concentrations of ethanol-water,higher temperature,longer time,larger cottonseed-meal/ solvent ratio comduce to increasing raffinose leaching yield.Better operating conditions was ethanol concentration of 80%, temperature of 55℃ extraction,time of 2.5h extraction,solid-liquid ratio of 1:12.The extraction rate of raffinose was to 90%.
