Effect of Dexmedetomidine during Tracheal Extubation Period after General Anesthesia in Patients with Hypertension

Abstract

Objective:To explore the effect of dexmedetomidine in patients with hypertension during tracheal extubation period after general anesthesia.Methods:A total of 80 patients with primary hypertension undergoing elective surgery under general anesthesia requiring tracheal intubation were randomly divided into control group(n=40)and observation group(n=40).The patients in the observation group and the control group were given intravenous infusion of 0.5μg/kg dexmedetomidine and the same amount of 0.9%sodium chloride solution,respectively.Mean artery pressure(MAP),heart rate(HR),pulse oxygen saturation(SpO2)were observed before anesthesia(T0),during extubation(T1),2 min after extubation(T2)and 5 min after extubation(T3),and the restlessness rate during extubation was recorded.Results:MAP and HR in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group at T1,T2,T3(P0.01).There was no significant difference in SpO2 between the two groups(P0.05).Incidence of postoperative restlessness in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P0.05).Conclusions:Dexmedetomidine can safely reduce cardiovascular responses during tracheal extubation after general anesthesia and decrease the incidence of restlessness in patients with hypertension.
