Abstract

Presupposition,as one of the most popular linguistic topics,involves many lingvists into a hot debate in reaent years.Presupposition is so close to our daily life that it has been extensively used in the areas such as advertisements,news reports,speeches etc.,and it has a great effect on the transmission of messages.The use of presupposition in Barack Hussein Obama's inaugural speech provides us a new vision on the functions of presupposition.
