Abstract
The kinematic equation of the starting and leaving process of vehicle queue at intersection was established to analyse the relationship between headway and pass-through time at intersection as well as the other factors which affect the intersection capacity. The analytical and simulation results show that(1) too small or too large headway will result in capacity reduction;(2) when the headway is 4~8 m,the queue length of vehicles waiting for pass-through the intersection and the start-up delay time can be reduced effectively to improve the intersection capacity to the utmost extent.
