Abstract

Objective To investigate the value of CT perfusion imaging in diagnosis of peripheral arterial occlusive disease(PAOD).Methods 64-slice spiral CT perfusion scans of lower extremities were performed in 41 individuals, including 36 patients with PAOD(Fontaine Ⅰ—Ⅳ)and 5 volunteers without PAOD(control group).Time-density curves(TDC)and blood flow(BF),blood volume(BV),mean transit time(MMT)and permeability surface(PS)of skeletal muscle in different pathologic stage were obtained with perfusion software, and the statistical analysis was performed. Results TDC in patients with PAOD were different from control group. The values of BF and BV in PAOD group were higher than those in control group, and the value of MTT in PAOD group was lower than that in control group, the difference was significant(all P0.05).The differences of BF,BV and PS between Fontaine Ⅲ,Ⅳ and control group were statistically significant(P0.05),but no significant difference was found in Fontaine Ⅰ and Ⅱ group compared with control group(P0.05).The values of MTT among PAOD groups were not statistically significant(P0.05).Conclusion Perfusion imaging with 64-slice spiral CT can reflect changes of blood perfusion of skeletal muscle in patients with PAOD,and the changes of the perfusion parameters are correlative with the serious degree of the diseases. The method can be valuable for clinical early diagnosis, treatment and follow-up.
