Abstract
The chlorophyll contents in the leaves of Taxus chinensis var. mairei at different canopies were measured. Results showed that among the pigments of the chloroplast, the content of chlorophyll-a was the highest, followed by that of chlorophyll-b, and carotenoid content was the lowest. The correlation between SPAD values and the concentration of chlorophyll a,chlorophyll b, the total contents of chlorophyll in the leaves were analyzed, showing that there were good correlation between them. The difference between chlorophyll contents in the one-year old leaves and two-year old leaves was not significant, while the difference among leaf chlorophyll contents at different position in canopy was significant. Chlorophyll contents in the leaves at western, inner and lower position of canopy were higher than those in the leaves at eastern position.
