Abstract
During the creation of Eight Banners,the highest unit was called gūsa,which was written linking Chinese sound gu(group)with Manchu plural appendix-sa.The name had been used since then.In Chinese,the prime translation was 固山,afterwards,it was changed with symbol 旗(banner).Even though gūsa and banner were used to refer to the special social organization combining military with administration in Qing Dynasty,there are still no simple corresponding relations in meaning between these two words in different languages.
