Investigation and analysis on blue herbaceous germplasm resources in Beijing mountainous areas

Blue herbaceous plants, which are not only rare materials in the landscape, but also important germplasm resources in breeding research, have high ornamental value. There are rich blue herbaceous plants in surrounding mountainous area of Beijing, but only a few are in use. The materials being used in current urban flower beds and flower borders are mostly from foreign horticultural species. Based on investigation and research of two years, the blue herbaceous types in Beijing mountainous area (such as Mt. Songshan, Mt. Baihuashan and Mt. Donglingshan) are summed up, and the statistical results are 19 families, 41 genera and 59 species. Aiming at the current status of research and application, we recommend blue herbaceous plants with high ornamental value for an introduction. It provides a basis for future development and use.
