Discussion of the importance of tonifying the liver and kidney in treatment of ischemic apoplexy

By studing etiology,pathomechanism,pathological change and clinical symptoms of ischemic apoplexy,it is pointed out that the fundamental pathomechanism of the disease is deficiency of yin in the liver and kidney.The state of deficiency of yin in the liver and kidney precede stroke and last throughout the course of the disease as a basic pathological change.So tonifying the liver and kidney should be the basic therapeutic principle of ischemic apoplexy.Tonifying the liver and kidney can enrich the essence in the kidney,nourish the brain and the spinal cord and regulate the spirit.It not only tonify the deficiency,but also help to calm the wind,purge the fire,remove the blood stasis and phlegm,lower the adverse qi.The method facilitate the removal of pathological factors and functional recover to improve the life qualities of the patients.
