Abstract
Objective To compare the clinical efficacy of Du-regulating and kidney-reinforcing acupuncture with conventional acupuncture in treating senile insomnia. Methods Sixty senile insomnia patients were randomly allocated to treatment and control groups,30 cases each. They were treated with Du-regulating and kidney-reinforcing acupuncture and conventional acupuncture, respectively. The SDRS score was counted before and after treatment. Results The SDRS score decreased significantly in both groups after treatment as compared with before(P 0.05) but it did more in the treatment group than in the control group(P0.05).The total efficacy rate was 80.0% in the treatment group and 56.7% in the control group;there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusions Du-regulating and kidney-reinforcing acupuncture is superior to conventional acupuncture in treating senile insomnia.
