Abstract
OBJECTIVE To prepare metformin hydrochloride sustained-release matrix tablets.METHODS This tablets were prepared by the water-soluble HPMC(K4M) matrix, and the formulation and technology was optimized by the orthogonal design test.RESULTS The optimal technology was as follow: using 10% PVP ethanol as bonding agent,20% HPMC K4M was used to prepare metformin hydrochloride sustained-release matrix tablets by the wet granule compression technique.CONCLUSION The release in vitro of the drug accords with Higuchi equation(Q=(28.8927)t~(1/2)+(1.1704),r=(0.995)),T_(50)=(2.87) h,T_(d)=(4.65) h. This preparation technology is simple, and metformin hydrochloride releases within 12 h.
