Abstract

Drought tolerance in seedling stage of 17 inbreds and 10 hybrids of ma ize was detected under the dry condition using the product of drought tolerance coefficient of emergence ratio and biomass as the drought tolerance index. The fitting anal ysis on drought tolerance was made by fuzzy subordination method, using the indeces of coleoptile length, emergence ratio, root weight, biomass, proline content, electric conductivity and leaf water conservation capacity. The study showed that the product of drought t olerance coefficient of emergence ratio and biomass could be used as an index to evaluate drought tolerance of maize in seedling stage and the res ult was fitted well with comprehensive evaluation of drought tolerance.
