Abstract
The relationship between Tianyi Newspaper and modern Chinese literature mainly manifests itself in two aspects. Firstly,it influenced some Chinese students who were pursuing studies in Japan and who were to become writers afterwards, and particularly its influence upon the Chow brothers deserves our greatest attention. Secondly; some ideas or viewpoints it propagated, espically He-zhen's views on female emancipation, were embodied in the May 4th Female Emancipation Movement and in the creation of female literature. Tianyi Newspaper permeated literature in these two aspects, which influenced the Chinese Literature Modernization process, and acquired a definite significance in the history of literature.
