Abstract

In 1940s, when Beiping was occupied by Japanese army, serving a puppet post in the government, Zhou Zuo-ren put forward the Renaissance of Literature and Arts. Under the premise of recognition of inevitably using armed forces to end the subjugation of China, he started to consider political problems from the perspective of culture, that is, all the national problems excluding country. He thought that in terms of space, nation's tie is thoughts, language and characters. Therefore, in his four articles in 1940s such as Tradition of Literature, he attempted to establish the tradition of intrinsic thoughts and Chinese for the renaissance of literature and arts, in order to seek for the literature nation and the mainbody position of nation.
