Theoretical Thinking about Agricultural University in Serve the New Socialist Countryside Construction

The fundamental function of universities is to train talents,develop science and serve the society.Under the current situation of building new socialist countryside,this paper propose innovating the functions of university based on the situation of Shanxi Agricultural University as follows: it involves adjustment of the system of majors and diversification of methods in talents training;it emphasizes that projects should come from the forefront of countryside and combine farmers training with agricultural achievements transformation in science development.As for serving the society,the universities should provide more practical and free services for countryside.It also hold that agricultural universities can realize its value and self-development by keeping a close relationship with agriculture,farmers and villages.
