A New Species of the Genus Brachymna (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae: Pentatominae) from Guangdong Province

The present paper describes a new species of Brachymna Stl, Pentatomidae from Mt. Dadongshan (24°50′N, 114°40′E), Lianzhou, Guangdong Province, China. All the measurements are in millimeters. All the type specimens are deposited in the Insect Collection of Zhongshan University. Brachymna bificeps, sp. nov. (Figs.1～2) ♂ body length 13.6, width of abdomen 6.6; ♀ length 13.8～16.0, width of abdomen 6.7～7.4. Body oblong, ovate, flat, yellowish brown or blackish brown, with thickly blackish brown punctures. Head length 2.7, width 2.6, vertex width 1.6, lateral lobes longer than the middle lobe, meeting beyond the latter and then departing again, cau sing apes of head bifurcated (fig.1). Eyes blackish brown, prominent, ocelli reddish. Antennae yellowish brown, length of antennal segments Ⅰ∶Ⅱ∶Ⅲ=0.2∶1.2∶1.6 (4th ant 5th segments lost). Rostrum blackish brown, apex black, reaching hind coxa. Pronotum length 2.4, width between lateral anyles 6.0, anterior part yellowish brown, posterior part blackish brown, the lateral angles produeed upward and forward (fig.1). Scutellum width 3.6, length 4.9, elongately triangular. Membrane of hemelytra surpassing apex of abdomen 0.8. Connexivum yellowish brown, with punctures. Body beneath yellowish brown, with blackish markings on lateral area of each of 2nd 5th abdominal segments, and with blackish marking on center of 3rd 5th abdominal segments. Legs yellowish brown, with blackish apots. Male genital segment as shown in fig.2. Holotype ♂, Mt. Dadongshan, Lianzhou, Guangdong Province, 10-Ⅶ-1998, coll. by Chen Zhenyao; paratypes 5♀♀, 9-Ⅶ-1992, 25-Ⅴ-1997, 28-Ⅴ-1998, 10-Ⅵ-1998, 10-Ⅶ-1998, same data as the holotype. Host plant: bamboo. The new species is similar to Brachymna humerata Chen, 1989, but the sturcture of head, pronotum and male genital segment are all different (Figs.1～2).
