Abstract
Objective To explore the application value of combined detection of C-reactive protein(CRP) and white blood cell(WBC) in children with respiratory tract infection. Methods 230 cases of children with acute respiratory tract infection admitted in Department of Pediatrics of our hospital were selected, including 130 patients with bacteria infection, 50 patients with viral infection, and 50 patients with mycoplasma infection. And 50 healthy children were selected as the control group. CRP in peripheral blood was detected and the routine blood test was performed in all the children. Results The positive rate of CRP was significantly higher than that of WBC in bacterial infection group. The positive rate of CRP and WBC in infection groups, compared with that in the normal control group, the difference was statistically significant in bacterial infection group(P0.05), viral infection group had no significant difference(P0.05), there was no significant difference in positive rate of CRP of mycoplasma infection group(P 0.05), and the difference was statistically significant in the positive rate of WBC(P0.05). Conclusion Combined detection of CRP and WBC has great value in differentiating acute respiratory tract infection in children
