Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical value of color Doppler ultrasound and non-stress test(NST)in diagnosis of fetal distress.Methods A total of 80 fetuses between 37-42 weeks of gestation were divided into 2 groups--distress group and normal control group(n = 40 for each)and examined with color Doppler ultrasound and NST.Results The ratio of peak systolic to end diastolic flow velocity(S/D),resistance index(RI)and pulsatility index(PI)of fetal middle cerebral artery(MCA)had significant differences between fetal distress group and normal group.The sensitivity,specificity,the positive and negative predictive value of normal and distress group were 92.5 %,95.0 %,94.5 % and 92.7 % in fetal hypoxia by color Doppler and 75.0 %,62.5 %,66.7 %,71.4 % by NST respectively,the detection rate of fetal distress by S/D ratio was significantly higher than that in NST.Conclusion It is demonstrated that hemodynamic index(S/D)is superior to NST in diagnosis of fetal distress by χ2 test of paired comparison.
