Abstract
AIM To test the association of polymorphism of CYP1A1 and GSTM1 genotype and esophageal cancer (EC) in Xi'an. METHODS A molecular epidemiological study was carried out. Polymorphism of CYP1A1 and GSTM1 in108 EC and 101 control samples were detected by PCR method. RESULTS The proportion of CYP1A1 Ile/Ile, Ile/Val and Val/Val gene in cases and controls were 22.6%, 43.4% , 34.0% and 30.7%, 47.5%, 21.8% respectively, and Val/Val genotype was significantly different ( P = 0.049 ); GSTM1 deletion in cases and controls were 59.3% and 43.6% ( P =0.023). Moreover CYP1A1 Val/Val genotype and GSTM1 deletion were more expressed in Xi'an EC. CONCLUSION The CYP1A1 Val/Val genotype and GSTM1 deletion are related with the genetic susceptibility of EC in Xi'an.
